Prof. Ing. Vanda Benešová, CSc. (publishing as Wanda Benesova) completed her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1992 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague.
After moving to Austria (1997), she was working at several research institutions, including the Christian Doppler Laboratory at the University of Mining in Leoben, LEM Norma (formerly Müehlegger GmbH), and the Institute of Digital Image Processing at Joanneum Research in Graz. Her research activities there covered a wide range of topics in digital image processing and computer vision, including pattern recognition, classification, spectral methods, object detection, and colour measurement.
From 2010 to 2026, she was affiliated with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies, where she has been a Professor of Applied Informatics since 2021.
She is currently affiliated with the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CVUT). Her academic activities include teaching and supervision in image processing, computer vision, and human–computer interaction, as well as research in medical imaging and computer vision. In recent years, her research has focused on the analysis of medical imaging data using deep neural network methods.
