Doc. PaedDr. Jiří Vaníček, Ph.D. is associated professor and head of the Department of Informatics at the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. His fields of interest are informatics teaching in elementary and high schools, early age programming education and formerly computer assisted learning of mathematics. He has published over 60 scientific papers and over 50 methodical works. He has written 7 information technology and programming textbooks for elementary and junior high schools. He works in expert group for innovation of national informatics curricula at the National Institute for Education. In 2017 - 2020 he was the head of the strategic ministerial project PRIM – Support for Development of Computational Thinking, developing new informatics curricula. For 15 years he has been organizing the Bebras informatics contest in the Czech Republic as board leader and country representative of Czech Republic in the International Bebras Committee.
