Using drawings to understand students’ ideas and learn in STEM

The lecture will introduce the use of drawings as a diagnostic tool that allows insight into the knowledge of students, but also their subjective perception of natural processes and phenomena. Especially in the context of STEM education, the use of drawings or diagrams is of great importance, as graphic representation is easier for pupils and students than verbal description and at the same time gives space for the application of their creativity. Subsequent analysis of the drawing accompanied by an interview with students can obtain very valuable information about the understanding of the given phenomena.
