Artificial intelligence (AI), the fastest-growing technology in education, is impacting all aspects of human activity, including education. Teaching artificial intelligence skills (AI literacy) has become a key competency that requires additional attention and significant improvements in pre-university education. These competencies would enable students to use AI tools, such as chatbots and text-to-images, safely and ethically. Numerous studies emphasise that the development of AI skills is best started as early as possible to enable people of all ages to survive in the current AI-driven world. On the other hand, policy documents from international institutions such as UNESCO and the European Commission do not recommend the use of AI tools that are not specifically designed for educational purposes for students under the age of 16.rnIn this perspective, during the workshop, a brief practical state of the art will be presented, as a showcase of the most modern generative potentialities currently available to the public, after which we will move on to interactive laboratory activities to experiment with the tools. The aim of this workshop is to share experiences and knowledge with teachers on how to ensure the safe and ethical use of chatbots in pre-university education. During the workshop, teachers will acquire skills that will enable them to facilitate the safe use of chatbots and art generation by developing prompts and software settings, and creating their own interfaces for the classroom. To participate in the workshop, teachers should have a computer or laptop and basic computer skills.
