In 2023, an aperiodic monotile was introduced: a shape that admits a tiling of the Euclidean plane, but the tessellation is never periodic. The first version of an aperiodic monotile was based on a triangular tiling. Similar triangular tilings also exist in the hyperbolic plane. This article is about searching for such an aperiodic monotile in the Poincaré model of hyperbolic geometry.
